Hospital Visit: Tue, Jun 23, 2009 at 10:12 PM

This morning at 11.30 am (June 23, 2009), Rev Alan Leong (formerly, Pastor of Queenstown Baptist Church and a great pastor with a genuine pastoral heart whom members loved and younger pastors looked up to) and I visited Lilian at the hospital.
My first impression when seeing her hooked up to the tubes was what a contrast since the last time I visited her! Her face was cheerful and lighted up, She was also chirpy and communicative. But best of all, she had her hairdo done! (that to me was a good sign!).  For that Jenifer is to be thanked because she was the one who helped her washed, combed her hair and even bathed for her!  True to her traits, Lilian thanked Rev Alan for coming and sent her regards to his wife ( her name is Yvonne - a godly and wonderful wife).

Rev Alan Leong anointed her with oil and uttered a heartfelt prayer. He also gave her a word from the Lord from his quiet time which encouraged her.. When I read "Her tribute" she was all smiles but chuckled when it came to the  part "...many suitors". There were two highlights of the visitation.  One, a positive statement  made by her before we left - " I cannot give up because God has not given up on me." That was very affirming, encouraging and uplifting.  Two, before we were about to leave, Rev Alan asked permission to clasp her hand. That was a very beautiful sight and though no words were spoken, it spoke volume!

This Thursday (day after tomorrow) we say good bye to Lilian's best friend from Cincinnati, Ohio. What a friend! She came all the way just to be with Lilian or three weeks just before her scheduled operation on 29 June. Instead she has to visit Lilian at the hospital. She has been doing that since the first day Lilian was admitted. What a true friend! In fact, she told Lilian that many important people from all over the world have written emails to her wishing her speedy recovery. The only person that has not written to her is the Pope because no one has informed him yet! She burst out laughing!

We are sorry to see you leave and wish God's richest blessings on her. In the words of Scripture "... he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed" (Prov 11:25).

Incidentally, Lilian has another wonderful and best friend in Singapore whose name is Lee Pheng. She is a wonderfully dedicated Christian and a Cell group leader at Leng Kwang Baptist Church. Prior to her last admission, Lilian was in and out of the hospital for different medical reasons.  Lee Pheng was the one who visited her every night and stayed and chit-chatted till late at night (before the outbreak of N1H1 that was possible). Amazing, isn't it?  Men if given one hour could hardly fill it up; but when two women get together they can talk more than few hours even without a subject! In any case, thanks Lee Pheng for being a true and wonderful friend to Lilian.

Many of you would be happy to know that Lilian managed to celebrate her important 50th birthday during the
first week of June before she was admitted to the hospital. Another wonderful and best friend by the name of Catherine Allen from Birmingham whom Lilian considers to be mentor. She seeks her advice on important
matters. Whenever she goes to the States, Catherine's home would be her second home. Incidentally, Lilian is so full of praise for her husband for her husband. On two occasions when she returned  from the States, she would bragged about him and said, " If ever I were to get married, that is the kind of husband material I would go for!" Looks like she is still searching!

On her 50th birthday, Catherine  Allen sent her some money to celebrate. We were expecting a big bash. Unfortunately, true to her character, she wanted something simple. So, she invited a few of us to Sammy's curry at Dempsey Road because she has not eaten there for quite some time!

This Sammy's restaurant serves best Indian food in Singapore. They have something special called  - GUNPODWER! For those of you who are abroad, if you come to Singapore and  have not eaten "Sammy's masala chicken" you cannot say you have visited Singapore! It just like "You cannot claim to have visited New York, without going to Stanton island and visited the Statute of Liberty!"

Let's come back to her medical report. Currently, her bleeding at the back of the brain is under controlled. No operation is needed! .Her right hand stroke is mild and her hand movement is a bit clumsy.  She is able to take solid food. Previously she was in and out of the hospital because of high temperature (but doctors could not detect the cause). Now they have detected the virus and giving her medication to combat it. Her "aorta" operation scheduled for 29 June has been postponed to later date to enable her to regain her strength for the op.   We can thank God for her improved condition.

1.      Praise God for hearing all the prayers of the saints for her slow recovery. A prayer of thanksgiving is in order ("In Everything  Give Thanks" [1 Thess 5:18] ).

2.      Pray for the strengthening of Lilian's body as soon as possible in order to enable her to undergo her operation as soon as possible.

3.      Pray from a position of faith - pray believingly that her operation will be a success. Never Have So Many Prayed So Much in such Few days just for ONE!

With that JNN (Johnson News Network) will cease transmission  for the time being.
The next update will be when I know the operation date.

Till then

Cheers
johnson
